The primary objective of this project is to enhance the overall reflectivity and service life of road markings and to equip them with long-lasting, high-intensity reflective performance under rainy and nighttime conditions. The equipment used for the project was a self-propelled, dual-component specialized dot-painting machine. The marking paint employed was a two-component type, and both the surface-applied and internally mixed glass beads were composite glass beads containing high-refractive-index microcrystalline glass beads with a refractive index of 2.4, specifically designed for rainy-night visibility. The consumption of surface-applied glass beads was approximately 500 g/m², and the internal mixing ratio of glass beads per kilogram of paint reached as high as 60%. The marked lines exhibited uniform and complete shapes, with a dot-painting coverage rate exceeding 60% per unit area and a dot-painting thickness greater than 5 mm. The surface-applied glass beads were evenly distributed, and their settling and adhesion properties both reached ideal levels. Initial tests of the newly applied markings—conducted using both domestically produced and imported instruments—showed a retroreflective coefficient of over 1,000 (mcd·m⁻²·lx⁻¹). After simulated rainfall, the retroreflective coefficient remained above 1,000 (mcd·m⁻²·lx⁻¹). Following the opening to traffic, continuous monitoring and testing will be carried out to track the performance of the markings over time.
